Braces brushes and orthodontic care by Pierrot

For braces you use an orthodontic toothbrush, with V-cut filaments: the shorter central row fits over the brackets while the outer rows clean the tooth and the gum. Add a single-tuft brush or an interdental brush to clean around each bracket and under the archwire, plus orthodontic dental floss. Pierrot has the whole range, kids included.

How to brush your teeth with braces

  1. Rinse with water This loosens food debris.

  2. Brush with the orthodontic brush First above the brackets, angling the head down, then below them, angling it up. Go over the inner surfaces and the molars too.

  3. Use the single-tuft brush Run it around each bracket.

  4. Use the interdental brush Under the archwire and between the brackets.

  5. Clean between the teeth With orthodontic floss, threading the stiff end under the wire.

  6. Check in the mirror Make sure no debris is left, and always follow your orthodontist’s advice.

Once the floss is under the wire, the technique is the same as usual: see how to use dental floss correctly.
