We brush our teeth without thinking, never stopping to consider whether we are doing it correctly. You are probably making one or more of the mistakes we list below:
- ¿Mojas el toothbrush antes de comenzar el cepillado?
This is a very common mistake that makes the bristles less effective.
- Applying toothpaste along the whole surface of the brush.
For aesthetic reasons we often see images in which toothpaste is applied along the entire length of the filaments, but the correct amount covers only a third of it. Applying more brings no additional benefit.
- Brushing with a horizontal movement.
The correct way to move the brush across the surface of your teeth is in semicircles from top to bottom, that is, vertically.
- Forgetting to clean your tongue.
It is very important to remove the bacteria that live on the tongue. You can use the back of some brushes or a tongue cleaner.
- Brushing your teeth immediately after eating.
Finally, this very common mistake, which we have already written about. It is advisable to wait around 30 minutes after meals, because the
pH of the mouth is very acidic after eating, and it is best to wait for it to settle so as not to damage the enamel.
